PALETTE-CLOTHING (II)

After Documenta in Kassel, encouraged by another successful performance, we sat down and drew up a list of the leading art events around the world. That was when we made the decision to continue the Performance on the Road project and chose other places to visit. Our trip to the 37th ARCO International Contemporary Art Fair in Madrid was organized in a rush. Considering this is the world’s most frequented contemporary art fair, I decided to create new palette-clothing for the occasion. Possibly I ought to have done this before setting off for Venice, but then I had no idea the project would have so many iterations. The old palette had been destroyed. I had been using it for several years. Creating new palette-clothing, I meant to return to the original thought - apart from the pants, jacket, and shoes, I also wanted a shirt and a vest. Over time it turned out the jacket was no longer needed. I also gave up on the hat, doing colorful dreadlocks instead, attaching them to my real ones. I see them as paint brushes. I also changed how the palette-clothing was made. I made the first one from painting-palettes, while the second was made from scratch, from colorful scraps of wool. That gave it more color saturation, made it more elastic and cling more to the body. The only element joining the old and new palette-clothing was the shoes.
