Getting acquainted with the art of the other artists, those officially invited to take part in the 57th Art Biennale, I kept wearing my palette-clothing, because I was seeking a relationship with their work. The essence was to explore how the painter’s palette behaves in a space filled with works of art, and how it might affect them. This was a new experience for me, but it turned out to be important in that it began a study Katarzyna and I have called The Behavior of the Palette-Clothing in Spaces Filled with Other Works of Art. This was my first “stroll” of this sort, but it was so successful that I repeated it on several occasions in the course of the Performance on the Road project. Myself as an art object, the travelling form of a painter’s palette that was not up for sale. I moved around so the palette could find “its picture.” After all, the painter’s palette will always ask questions about the presence of the painting and its origins.
